Snow Removal Policies
Winter 2017 – 2018
Automatic clearing when accumulation reaches 2”. Slippery conditions of lesser accumulations may be treated with chemicals or removed based on agreement of contractor, management agent and the Board.
When the contractor is on-site, please make every effort to allow them sufficient clearance for their vehicles to allow them to complete the clearing effort quickly and safely. Please DO NOT make any “special requests” of the contractors’ crew. They have their assignments.
1) Streets will be plowed first:
- First pass will be make roads passable. FIRE LANES are top priority. Objective is to clear streets to the curbs.
- Islands and certain lawn areas are designated for piling plowed snow.
- Every effort will be made to plow snow away from cars parked in designated spaces. Plows must leave a minimum 3’ clearance behind cars in the parking areas.
- Curb parallel parking prohibited during snow clearing. Use available overflow spaces to the rear of buildings in the inner court (on the main loop of Swan Point Way). Vehicles parallel parked at the curbs may be “plowed in”.
2) Sidewalks and lead walks will be second priority:
- Sidewalk adjacent to Cradlerock will be cleared to the property line, and access to the crosswalk will be cleared.
- Phase II steps and landings will be cleared.
- Ensure parked cars leave at least 1’ clearance back from sidewalk curbs to allow equipment to completely clear sidewalks.
4) FIRE HYDRANTS and MAILBOXES will cleared and kept accessible.
After all roadways are cleared, parking areas may be cleared (based on agreement between contractor and Board) if all vehicles are removed and a plow can navigate the area sufficiently well to push all snow to an adjacent island. This means the plow will only run perpendicular to the direction in which cars park. The clearing of individual spaces is the responsibility of the residents.
If you notice problem areas (ice accumulation, areas not cleared, etc.) please notify the management agent.
