Adopt A Garden Project a Success
12 volunteers plant 30 new bushes and 2 new trees around neighborhood
Sunday, April 26, 2020
It was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday, April 26, 2020, and 12 volunteers (and a few little ones "helping" their parents) helped weed, dig, plant, and care for several areas around our community that were in need of beautification. The effort of our neighbors was tremendous and these areas now look amazing. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank everyone that participated in helping beautify our neighborhood, especially Gretchen Overdurff for her leadership with organizing this project and my fellow auger-digger Nick Manning.
As you walk around our neighborhood, please take note of the new additions:
- 4 new knock out rose bushes planted in the parking island between 7203-7205 Harbor Lane
- 5 new boxwood bushes planted and mulch added in the parking island in front of 7215-7217 Harbor Lane
- 2 new boxwood bushes planted and mulched around the new EV Charging Station next in between 7249-7253 SPW
- 4 new rhododendron bushes planted behind Building 17
- New pink dogwood tree planted in the parking island at 7421 SPW
- 5 new azalea bushes behind 7201-7205 Harbor Lane
- 3 new rhododendron bushes planted in the island in front of 7471 SPW
- 7 new knock out rose bushes planted along path to lake between 7499-7503 SPW
- New Japanese Maple tree behind 7201 Harbor Lane (coming soon)
I'm hoping we can make this an annual event around Earth Day every year. It was great to see the community come together (although social distanced) to help on these projects, and we also saved a bunch of money.
Thanks again to all who participated and we look forward to doing this again next year (or sooner if there's interest!).
